Often, they are confused about the difference between IDP IELTS and British Council IELTS. Many form myths, and when they score lower than their expectations, they blame the organisation for treating them poorly in the exam.

It’s the same myth as the exam location. What????? Such students would do anything to blame the IELTS Organization but them. For example, in Punjab, India, many students and even their parents and in the worst scenario, many so-called IELTS institutes and Study Visa Offices believe that taking the exam in the Moga centre would drastically improve their band score. WHAT? Seriously, WHAT? It’s 2024, and hello, we have the internet, and it’s cheap.
I believe all students preparing for the IELTS exam have smartphones, and a simple search can educate them that only IELTS preparation matters.
We often get calls from students asking about the process of IELTS exam booking. They mainly ask for the IELTS GT Exam, but whether they want to take an Academic or General Training Exam, the process is the same for both.
Let’s dig into how to make an IELTS Test Booking in Canada.
IDP IELTS Canada –
The official website to make a booking with IDP is here. The process is extremely simple and anyone can do it in just a few minutes. The price for the tests ranges between CAD 359 -360 depending upon the location.
Go to the Book Now Section, and a new Page Will Open. You can take the exam in 56 cities on Computer or Paper. Nonetheless, the IDP also offers various other test options for your needs, such as IELTS Academic for UKVI, IELTS General Training for UKVI, and Life Skill (A1, A2, B1).
First, you must select your city. Then, you must select the exam type, such as IELTS General Training, followed by the delivery format (Computer or Paper) and the Test Date.

British Council –
Now, look into the British Council IELTS TEST Booking in Canada Process. Like IDP, the process is simple, and you must follow certain instructions to book the exam. Refer to the official website of British Council IELTS Canada here. The exam fees for the exam with BC are between CAD 339 to CAD 345
OSR – One Still Retake is still not accepted by IRCC. However, you can go for the option with British Council Canada.

When you click on the ‘Book Now’ option above, you will be redirected to a new domain for the final booking process.
After clicking the desired exam, another page will open and ask you for the location of your choice.
If you click on ‘Test Taker Portal’, you will have to make an account to book the exam and make the payment afterwards.
However, if you want to continue with the exam rather than going to the Test Taker Portal (which you will ultimately have to go to later on), you can also go with this. Don’t tick I have accessibility needs for the test date unless you are a person with special needs.
After choosing the test date, a new window will pop up where you can change the schedule of your speaking. Once you do this, you will be redirected to the Test Taker Portal, where you have to make an account and pay.
