WRITING TASK 1

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

You have a full-time job and are also doing a part-time evening course. You now find that you cannot continue the course.

Write a letter to the course tutor. In your letter:

  • describe the situation
  • explain why you cannot continue at this time
  • say what action you would like to take

You should write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear _________,

Answer –

Dear Mr. Bloom,

I am writing to inform you that I cannot continue the part-time course I am currently pursuing in your esteemed institute.

I, George Clooney, am a student of your 3-month, part-time course “Basic MS Word”, and I am also working as an accountant in “ABC Logistics”. I am one month into the course and because I have to go to my job from 9 am to 5 pm, I attend your evening batch from 6 pm to 8 pm on the weekdays.

The main reason I am unable to continue is that I have been posted in Chandigarh’s branch to attend the company’s mandatory training for 15 days. Therefore, I could not travel to Ludhiana, approximately 100 kilometres away, daily to attend classes and then return to Chandigarh again. Moreover, there is no option for me to continue this course online via the internet and you do not have any branch in this city as well.

However, I am not asking for any refund rather I am requesting you to put me on hold, and I will resume my course when I come back from my training. If it is not possible, you can shift me to the next batch whenever it starts because I want to learn this course, as it will help me to reach new heights in my career and get my dream job.

I look forward to receiving your response.

Yours sincerely,
George Clooney
