Answer –

Dear Mr. Gable,

I am writing to inform you that I cannot join my new job on the due date because of some unforeseen circumstances.

I, Bruce Lee, cleared my interview and was selected as an electrical engineer last Saturday in your esteemed company, and before that, I worked at ABC Logistics for 3 years. I received my offer letter on the same day, and according to that, I was scheduled to start this coming Monday, 14 June, but I am afraid, I will not be able to do so.

The reason behind this is that yesterday, my grandmother suddenly fell on the ground and was unresponsive, so she had to be rushed to the hospital. When we reached there, after diagnosis, the doctor said she had a heart attack and had to be operated on immediately. Moreover, my parents have gone to Canada for the holidays, so right now, I am the only one to take care of her and cannot leave her alone at this time,

I can join the job after a week, 21st June, because my parents will come to India by 19th June. Although my parents had booked the tickets as soon as they got the news, due to too much crowd, the earliest tickets they got were after 4 days. Therefore, after handing over my responsibilities to them, I can join the job peacefully and give my best.

I hope you will understand my situation and allow me the extension I need.

Kind regards,
Bruce Lee
