Dear _________,

Answer –

Dear John,

I’m just writing to help you out with your project about the New Year’s celebration in my country, India.

If I talk about the importance of the New Year, I’ll say, like for all others, it’s extremely important for us Indians. As this day marks the beginning of a new year, people try to set some goals and make some resolutions to accomplish during this new year. Doing this gives them hope that their life will take a turn for the better, and it fills them up with energy and enthusiasm.

As far as celebrations go, in India, most people like to visit a religious place to begin their day. They believe that if they start their new year by paying obeisance to the almighty, they’ll get blessings and their dreams may come true. Having said that, others like to celebrate it by partying at a club or pub with their friends.

The thing I like the most about this event is the relaxed ambience on this particular day. Everyone is in a jolly mood, and some people make amends for their previous mistakes and makeup with their estranged friends or family members. Also, we eat sweets on this day like there is no tomorrow, and even though I am health conscious, I let myself loose on this day because New Year’s calories don’t count, now do they?

Keep in touch,
Sam
