The illustration displays the process by which plastic bottles are recycled.
Overall, it is a nine-step, man-made, cyclical process. It begins with discarding used plastic bottles for recycling in designated bins before transporting them to the recycling centre and culminates in different products being made out of recycled plastic to be consumed again.
The first stage is disposing of plastic bottles in the garbage bin, specially made to collect recyclable plastic bottles. After that, the bottles are transferred to a recycling centre by a recycle-waste-collecting truck. The plastic bottles are then sorted by hand before the usable ones are compressed into plastic blocks. These blocks are thereafter crushed into small particles with the help of rotating wheels, after which these minute pieces are washed in a container.
As for the remaining steps, the washed plastic pieces are then put into a machine and turned into plastic pellets, and raw material to make plastic products is obtained after heating these pellets. The process ends when this raw material is used in manufacturing various kinds of products that are made from recycled plastics, such as t-shirts, carry bags, plastic bottles and lunch boxes, and this cycle repeats over and over again when these plastic products, especially bottles, are used and then thrown by people in recycle trash cans.
