WRITING TASK 1

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

You work for an international company. You have seen an advertisement for a training course which will be useful for your job.

Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:

  • describe the training course you want to do
  • explain what the company could do to help you
  • say how the course will be useful for your job

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Answer –

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my sincere interest in attending a useful training course for my job, which I read in “The Tribune”.

Its name is “Advanced time management and communication skills” and will be organised by a reputed company, “Masters of People Skills”. The course is seven days long, with 8-hour classes from 9 am to 5 pm daily, and the fee is $500. They will teach how to deal with customers and manage time for the best results. More importantly, the lectures will be given by the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, and we will get opportunities to practice what we have learnt in the class.

I would appreciate it if you sanction me a leave of 7 days, from 21st June to 28th June. Moreover, I would be indebted if the company bore the cost of this course, as I am financially unable to afford this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Although it may seem an extra burden on the company’s finances, I assure you, it will be beneficial in the long run.

By implementing these techniques in my job, I can make the company more profitable. Through time management, I could increase not only my but also my team’s efficiency and complete the projects before deadlines, meaning more profits. In addition, better communication skills will help me to turn potential customers into clients, and I could also motivate my team members whenever they are feeling down.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
Randy Orton
