WRITING TASK 1
You should spend 20 minutes on this task.
You and some friends ate a meal at a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, and you were very pleased with the food and service.
Write a letter to the restaurant manager. In your letter:
- give details of your visit to the restaurant
- explain the reason for the celebration
- say what was good about the food and the service
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own addresses.
Begin your letters as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my satisfaction with the food and the catering your staff provided when I visited your restaurant with my friends.
Last Saturday, on 1st May, my friends and I paid a visit to your esteemed restaurant to celebrate our farewell party. We were 20 in number, and our party lasted for roughly 3 hours. Although it was the first time we visited this place, we were extremely happy with how the staff attended us.
I cannot emphasise enough how special this day was for us because it was our last day together as classmates. From now on, many of us will start our lives in new cities or even abroad, and we may not see some friends again in our lives because you never know where life can take you. Therefore, we wanted to have a grand celebration of what could be our last together.
As for the food, I think it was nothing less than scrumptious, and the variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian is also praiseworthy. Moreover, the waiters were very attentive as they brought every dish well on time, and they also paid close attention to our needs. For example, if we did not like the taste of any food item, they immediately brought a new dish with the ingredients adjusted to our needs. Finally, the discount you offered was like the icing on the cake.
I will forever remember this day.
