Answer –
Dear Mr and Mrs Collins,
I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for inviting me to the surprise birthday party you are going to hold for Chris; however, I am afraid, I have to turn down your invitation.
The main reason I am sure Chris will be delighted with this surprise of yours is because he has always wanted someone should do something like this for him at least once in his life. He is a big fan of surprises and parties, and when you combine them both, it will be like the icing on the cake.
I am extremely sorry that I will not be able to come and be a part of this joyful occasion because, on that day, I have an all-important meeting that I cannot miss at any cost. If I am not present in that meeting, I face the risk of losing my job as this meeting is with one of the industry’s prestigious clients and if we crack this deal, it will be unprecedented.
Nevertheless, next month I have been granted 10 holidays from 1st June to 10th June and I am planning to meet him then. I have also purchased his favourite Apple smartwatch, which I will give him as a gift when I see him. I am so excited to meet all of you.
Hope you will understand my position and forgive me for declining your invitation.
Yours sincerely,
Shawn Michales
