Answer –
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to contribute to your upcoming article, “The book that influenced me most.” Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird has undeniably shaped my moral compass.
This novel brutally explores racial injustice and prejudice that was ingrained in American society during the 1930s. This Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is about the trial of Tim Robinson – written through the eyes of Scout Finch, a young girl and her father, Atticus Finch – a black man falsely accused of assaulting a white woman. This book teaches the importance of empathy, compassion and standing tall in the face of adversity.
To Kill a Mockingbird influenced me by demonstrating that we should be courageous enough to stand up for what is right, even if we have to stand against the entire world. In this novel, Atticus Finch, a lawyer, defends Tim Robinson even when the whole community opposes him for doing so. Despite so much pressure, his unwavering commitment instilled a strong sense of moral responsibility within me and taught me that we should treat all human beings as equals and without prejudice.
This book could inspire readers since many of us have experienced discrimination in one form or another. It would encourage readers to fight against injustice and social inequalities. This book is so captivating and beautifully written, covering a human’s capacity for cruelty and compassion, that it will positively impact our society.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Hulk Hogan
