Answer –

The illustration depicts the process by which sugar is obtained from sugar cane.

Overall, sugar production is a seven-stage, man-made, linear process. It begins with growing sugarcane on a farm and culminates in extracting sugar from syrup and letting it rest in a container.

Focusing on the first three stages, the process begins when sugarcane is sown in open fields. It takes anywhere between 12 and 18 months for this crop to mature before being harvested, either manually or mechanically. After that, the sugarcanes are put into a crushing machine to squeeze them and extract the sweet sugarcane juice in a container.

As for the remaining steps, in the subsequent stage, the juice is passed through a limestone filter in order to separate the impurities and purify the juice for further processing. This purified juice is then transferred into an evaporator to evaporate excess moisture to obtain a thicker, viscous liquid called syrup, which is then added to a centrifuge machine, where sugar crystals are separated from the syrupy substance. The process ends when the segregated sugar crystals are kept in a large container to dry and cool down.
