Answer of Cambridge Book 19 Test 4 Academic Writing Task 2

These days, end users in numerous nations can enter a supermarket and buy edible items grown in various parts of the globe. I believe this is a positive development because it gives people variety to choose from and ensures the year-round availability of food items.

The main reason why I think people choosing from food found in different parts of the earth under one roof should be considered a privilege is because it gives them different options to select from. Some individuals have specific dietary needs or preferences, and if they can buy what they want to eat, it will be beneficial for their health. Consequently, they can explore what they like or what food best suits their digestive system. In India, for example, doctors often advise people to eat avocados to improve their gut health, and it has only become possible because these are imported from the US.

Another reason to consider is the availability of produce throughout the year. To explain, many fruits and vegetables need a typical kind of weather and soil to grow, so they can be grown in a particular season and region. As different parts of the world have different weather during the year, importing them can guarantee that people can enjoy them whenever they want. The food supply can also be made consistent even if the domestic produce is less for any reason or the country is not agricultural-friendly. For instance, mangoes are grown in India during the summer, but people can enjoy them even in winter as the Indian Government purchases them from other countries.

In conclusion, I would argue that the availability of globally sourced food in supermarkets is advantageous because it provides individuals with a diverse array of choices and guarantees the continuous availability of sustenance during the year.
