Answer of Cambridge Book 16 Test 2 Academic Writing Task 2

In their marketing strategies, companies often highlight that their products are somehow new. This is because businesses aim to differentiate their goods from those of competitors. I believe this is a positive development as it drives continuous improvement in product quality.

One reason businesses emphasize their products’ novelty is to set them apart from other products. By showcasing new features, companies attract more customers, especially in a highly competitive market. Therefore, this strategy reduces competition for their products and makes them the preferred choice for consumers when they are looking to purchase a new item. For example, Apple is always highlighting new features of its brand-new products, positioning its devices at the top of the market and leaving similar products from other companies as a secondary option for customers.

This essay considers emphasizing newness in products as a positive development because it helps to improve products’ quality. Many businesses will strive to constantly develop new features to surpass their competitors’ products, and it will be beneficial for consumers on the whole since they can get something innovative and unique to experience with each upgrade. Google, for instance, has consistently enhanced its products’ quality over the years by introducing better features in each new model and showcasing them in their launch events.

In conclusion, companies often stress that their products are new in some way because they want to stand out from the rest of the competition. I think this is a positive trend because it encourages companies to improve the quality of their products constantly.
