WRITING TASK 1

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

On a recent holiday, you lost a valuable item. Fortunately, you have travel insurance to cover the cost of anything lost.

Write a letter to the manager of your insurance company. In your letter:

  • describe the item you lost
  • explain how you lost it
  • tell the insurance company what you would like them to do

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Answer –

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to claim my travel insurance for my mobile phone that I lost during my recent trip to Goa.

It is a white Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it cost me $1200 when I purchased it last month. To be more specific, it has 512 GB internal memory storage, and I also purchased its charger at around $100. For its protection, I installed a solid plastic back cover with my favourite superhero, Batman, engraved on it.

I lost it while I was sunbathing at the beach with my friends. We were lying and relaxing on our beach chairs, but suddenly, after 15 odd minutes, the sky became dark with clouds and, within no time, it started to pour. Therefore, we had to rush back to our hotel, and after reaching the hotel, I noticed my mobile was missing.

I would like to claim insurance for my lost mobile as I have bought travel insurance which covers all my belongings. Please tell me what form I need to fill out or what steps I need to take to proceed with my claim. I would also appreciate a hassle-free completion of the process because my work depends on my mobile phone.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully,
Henry Cavill
