WRITING TASK 1
You should spend 20 minutes on this task.
Last month you had a holiday overseas where you stayed with some friends. They have just sent you some photos of your holiday.
Write a letter to your friends. In your letter:
- thank them for the photos and the holiday
- explain why you didn’t write earlier
- invite them to come and stay with you
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Tom and Jerry,
I’m writing to tell you that I received the holiday photos yesterday that you guys mailed me
First off, let me thank you for the wonderful photos. When I saw them, the memories of the fantastic holiday were fresh again, and the pictures looked like they’d come alive. Honestly, pics came out stunning, especially the one in which we 3 are standing on the beach, I’m thinking of framing it. Also, I want to thank you for the wonderful holiday, I enjoyed every bit of my stay with you all.
Sorry for not writing and thanking you earlier because as soon as I landed in India, I fell ill because my body couldn’t handle the sudden change in weather. Here, it is scorching hot, but in Australia, it was quite pleasant, so this change took its toll on my health. I got hospitalised for 5 days, and then, I had to catch up on my pending work.
I’d like to extend my invitation to both of you to come over here to my country and let me show you my hospitality. Next month, we’ll have summer holidays, and I’ll be more than happy if you guys can come. There’s a spare room in my house with your name written all over it.
