Answer –
The maps illustrate how an island has been changed into a tourist resort.
Overall, the island has experienced a significant transformation from an uninhabited place into a tourist destination over the period given. Other notable changes are the development of accommodation and transportation systems on land and sea, while one side of the island remains undeveloped.
A pier has been constructed in the south to allow visitors to go surfing or cruising on yachts. From this pier, a vehicle track is laid down towards the centre of the island, and it surrounds a newly built reception block and also connects to a new restaurant, just north of the reception. Moreover, just east of the reception, nine hut-shaped houses have been constructed in a circle, which are linked together via footpath and the remaining eastern part of the island, with palm trees, has been left as it was.
Looking at the western part of the island, there were only three palm trees and a beach, which was not used for any activities. However, after the development, the beach now has swimming facilities and the palm trees are flanked by six huts, 3 on either side, to accommodate visitors. These houses are linked not only with each other and the beach area via the footpath but also with the vehicle track encircling the reception.
