Answer –

The line chart displays the amount of fish and three various types of meat consumed in a country in Europe from 1979 to 2004.

Overall, what stands out from the graph is that the amounts of beef, lamb and fish which were eaten decreased, while the figure for chicken went up over the period in question. Moreover, fish consumption remained the least preferable throughout the given period.

Focusing on beef and lamb consumption, the former began the period as the most popular meat among Europeans, as they consumed it at around 220 grams per person per week, and after that, the number decreased sharply, despite experiencing fluctuations, to about 120 grams by 2004. Similarly, lamb’s consumption plummeted from roughly 150 grams in 1979 to approximately 70 grams over the quarter of a century.

Looking at the remaining data, at the start of the period, a person consumed around 60 grams of fish a week. Then, the trend of consuming fish fell, although not as significantly as the above two, to about 45 grams by the period’s end. The amount of chicken consumed, meanwhile, skyrocketed from just under 150 grams to just below 250 grams between 1979 and 2004.
