Answer –

The maps display the how centre of a small town named Islip will be redeveloped after its planned development in the future compared to the present.

Overall, it can be seen that the Islip town centre will probably witness a significant transformation from having only traditional shops and undeveloped road infrastructure to having modern shopping facilities and a better, connected road network. Another noticeable change is to be the addition of more housing.

Focusing on the northern part of the town, the road widening will encroach on not only the countryside but also the main road’s extensions in the east and west, and there are plans to build a dual carriageway that rings the entire city centre. The eight shops, in the northernmost sector, will be removed and they will make way for a shopping centre that will be constructed in between a bus station and a car park, and to the east of the car park, new housing will be developed. Just to the front of these, the main road will be converted to a zone dedicated to pedestrians only.

Looking at the southern sector of the town, the eight shops that are roughly located in the centre will be relocated to the south of the pedestrian zone. A park in the south-east, connecting the main road, will be made smaller to give way for the road improvement and the construction of new housing will be just to the west of this park. The old housing, roughly in the centre, will be moved to the opposite side of the new residential area. In the southernmost section, the school, connected to the main road, will not change relatively, whereas the housing is predicted to be shifted further east of its original position, and only these two will probably be outside the dual carriageway.
