Answer of Cambridge Book 7 Test 1 Academic Writing Task 2
There is a common belief that some individuals have innate talents in sports or music while others are not born with such talents. Nonetheless, some occasionally claim that every child can be trained to excel in these fields. Although genetics can provide an advantage in such fields, in my opinion, people can outshine their rivals with dedication, even if they are not naturally gifted.
On the one hand, certain individuals are born talented in sports or music, but others are not because of genetics. Due to their heredity abilities, they have physiques or creative minds that set them apart and give them an edge over their competitors, making it easier for them to succeed. For example, famous prodigies like Michael Phelps and Mozart achieved unimaginable success in swimming and music, respectively, because of their particular physical build and creativity. However, I think that relying solely on natural talent can only take people so far, and many talented youngsters do not make it to the top because they never improve themselves.
On the other hand, others argue that any child can become an excellent sportsperson or musician if they practice diligently. They believe that practice makes a man perfect, and with devotion and effort, children can overcome their weaknesses bit by bit and improve their skills to the extent that they can outshine others in these fields. For instance, many successful athletes and musicians, although not god-gifted, went on to become some of the finest performers due to rigorous training. Since practice can turn an ordinary person into a world-class athlete or artist, in my opinion, this perspective that anyone can achieve their goals is more inclusive and empowering.
In conclusion, even though some people are born stars in sports or music because of their genes, I argue that each child can become a successful professional in these fields if they are willing to practice their heart out.
