Answer of Cambridge Book 6 Test 1 Academic Writing Task 2ย ย

It is often argued that famous consumable products are purchased in large numbers these days, reflecting the power of the advertising industry rather than the actual needs of consumers. I completely disagree with this statement because people purchase products based on their quality and their own economic conditions.

The main reason why I disagree that increased sales are due to the influence of advertisements is because people look at product quality before making a purchase. While advertising can give people information about a particular product and make them aware of the productโ€™s presence in the market, the final decision to buy something depends on the quality of the product in question. If the productโ€™s quality is good, people do not hesitate to buy local brands as well. For example, people often prefer iPhones to Android phones because of their superior quality and security features, even though the latter phone manufacturers spend more money on relentless marketing.

Another reason to consider is that people often shop for what they can afford. To explain, although ads these days are catchy and may tempt people to buy the product, they typically buy those products that fit their budget or meet their needs since they want to avoid falling into debt. As a result, non-branded or local products that are not heavily advertised but pocket-friendly are also purchased in high numbers. Most people, for instance, purchase motorbikes or cars that fit their budget rather than the luxury cars they often see in advertisements on social media platforms.

In conclusion, I completely disagree that advertising should be credited with increased sales of consumable products instead of the real needs of people because people purchase things if the quality is good and according to their buying power.
