Answer of Cambridge Book 5 Test 4 Academic Writing Task 2ย ย
Researchers often believe that innate traits are much more influential in shaping a personโs personality and development than life experiences. In my opinion, learning from experiences has a more prominent impact because children emulate what they see, and people can learn from their mistakes.
The main reason I believe life experiences are more effective is that they help to shape childrenโs characteristics. Children mimic what they observe, and how they turn out depends primarily on whether they had positive or negative experiences during childhood rather than any particular characteristics they have since birth. If their parents and teachers show them how to be polite, helpful and empathetic, they can become upstanding members of society, even if they were stubborn as a child. For example, many criminals, when interviewed, said that their aggressive or self-destructive behaviour was primarily due to the abusive environment they were reared in.
Another reason to consider is that life experiences help people to become better than they are. If individuals make mistakes, they can learn from them and avoid repeating the same errors to achieve their goals. However, if they are unwilling to learn, no matter how gifted they might be, they will not be able to achieve their full potential because to err is human. In sports like football or cricket, for instance, it is often observed that many youngsters who were once considered naturally talented did not make it to the top level, while mediocre players who kept on practising and learning from their errors went on to become some of the best players the world has ever seen.
In conclusion, I would argue that life lessons play a more crucial role in shaping peopleโs personality and development instead of the gifts they are born with because children usually become the type of person portrayed by their parents, and people often become better versions of themselves by learning from their mistakes.
