Answer of Cambridge Book 3 Test 4 Academic Writing Task 2ย ย
It is often argued that governments of developed countries ought to help underdeveloped countries more in improving their medical, education, and trade sectors so these poorer nations can also develop. I completely agree with this statement because it is not only an ethical responsibility but could also result in global stability.
The reason why wealthier nations should assist poorer nations is because it is their moral responsibility. In other words, well-off countries usually take advantage of poor countries in terms of cheap labour, and sometimes, they exploit their natural resources. Since rich nations have adequate funds and technology to help governments of underprivileged countries provide fundamental facilities to their citizens, they must return the favour. For example, China is helping countries in Africa by providing them with clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and the latest agricultural equipment, as the Chinese government is using the resources and considers helping these countries develop as its chief duty.
Another reason to consider is the stability it can provide worldwide. This is because mostly people from third-world nations try to migrate to first-world countries, either legally or illegally, to earn more money and make their lives better, and this sometimes creates a ruckus in affluent countries and puts strain on their resources. However, if underdeveloped countries were developed, such situations may not occur, and there would be stability all around, creating a peaceful environment. For instance, immigration from Eastern countries to Western countries has dropped since the economies of these nations have improved dramatically over the past few decades, leading to prosperity on both sides of the world.
In conclusion, I fully agree that high-income countries should assist low-income nations in developing their infrastructure because it is the right thing to do and would lead to a stable world.
