Answer to IELTS Cambridge Book 17 Test 2 General Writing Task 2

In a few parts of the world, instead of playing games or joining exercise lessons, an increasing number of individuals are paying a fitness coach for private classes. An increased number of people hire personal trainers for fitness now because individuals have more money and less time. In my opinion, this is a positive development because they can get individual attention.

The main reason a growing number of people are opting for personal trainers is that income has increased. That is to say that, due to globalisation, multinational companies are offering more money to employees to beat their competition, which has increased people’s spending power. Another reason is the shortage of time. Due to stiff competition, employees now have to spend more time in their workplace to excel in their careers or save their jobs, so they do not have enough time to go to gyms. Therefore, they hire personal trainers who can come to their homes anytime they are free from work and help them stay fit. Many people in Indian metro cities, for example, have hired their trainers as they are busy and do not want to spend their time travelling.

I believe it should be considered a welcome development because people can get the complete focus of the trainer. If the trainer has to train only one person at a time, they can give their undivided attention to that individual, which is impossible if 20 or 30 students are in the class. As a result, people can get better outcomes, as they will be doing every exercise under the surveillance of the expert coach. For instance, many individuals in my gym opted for personal training when they were not getting the desired results, and after that, they got in the best shape of their lives.

In conclusion, this ever-increasing trend of hiring personal coaches is driven by factors like increasing incomes and reducing time. Nonetheless, I believe it to be a beneficial phenomenon because people can get better results by having the complete attention of trainers on them.
