IELTS Cambridge Book 13 Test 2 GT – Letter

Question –

WRITING TASK 1

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

You recently organised an all-day meeting for your company, which took place in a local hotel. In their feedback, participants at the meeting said that they liked the hotel, but they were unhappy about the food that was served for lunch.

Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:

  • say what the participants liked about the hotel
  • explain why they were unhappy about the food
  • suggest what the manager should do to improve the food in future

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Answer –

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to give you both positive and negative feedback from my colleagues about your services and food, respectively, which we were served during our work full-day meeting in your hotel on 10th May 2024.

The things my company’s employees liked about your place are the cleanliness and tidiness. They all praised the organization and management skills of your staff members, and the chairs and tables were spotless and quite comfortable to sit on. Also, the air conditioning was just perfect. Although it was scorching hot outside, we never felt its effects inside and neither it was too cold.

The food; however, did not meet our expectations because either the taste was bland or it was not cooked properly. Take pasta for example, it was so undercooked that we were not able to chew even 1 bite properly, and had to spit it out. Moreover, Indian food items had too much salt in them, and there was not enough variety for vegetarian people.

To enhance the dining-in experience, I would recommend that firstly, you should expand your menu and add more vegetarian food items. Also, you can add some vegan products to your menu, as more and more people are choosing this particular lifestyle. Moreover, ask your chefs to at least taste the final dish before serving it to the customers so that it can elevate the dining experience.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
Tom Hanks
