Dear _________,
Answer –
Dear Jim,
I’m writing to tell you that I’m coming to New York to pursue my master’s, and I’d like your help finding a part-time job.
I’ll be doing a 1-year post-graduation at Columbia University in NYC, and the course will start in September during the fall. I’ll be studying Medical Physics with a speciality in Radiation Therapy. It is quite a complex course in which they will teach me how to calibrate radiotherapy units, develop therapeutic techniques, and ensure safe and effective radiation delivery as prescribed in patient care.
As for the part-time job, I’ll need it to cover my living expenses and rent while studying. As you know, New York City is quite expensive, and I don’t want to be a burden on my parents, so I need to do it to manage my finances. Doing a job will also give me a real-life experience of the world, and I’ll be better prepared when I step out into the field.
I’d be really grateful if you could send me a list of websites where I can find a suitable job. Also, would it be possible for you to suggest my name to the company you work for? As you’ve been working there for a long time, your word will help me get a part-time job.
I hope to see you soon!
Keep in touch,
Tom
