Answer of Cambridge Book 6 Test 4 Academic Writing Task 2
Certain individuals want to avoid any type of change and keep doing familiar things their entire lives, while others say that we should view change in a positive light at all times. Although doing the same things over and over again can give people a sense of control, I believe that people should accept change happily every time as it can lead to personal growth.
On the one hand, some people are in favour of keeping things as they are forever because it gives them stability. They argue that knowing how things are to be done or what to expect in any particular event gives them a sense of security and predictability. Living like this can lead to a more comfortable and stress-free life, whereas change is often unpredictable and may add to their stress. Many individuals, for example, work in the same jobs all their lives because they feel secure in their roles as they know how their company functions and how to perform particular tasks. However, I believe this mindset can result in stagnation, and people would lose some lifetime opportunities.
On the other hand, others opine that change should always be seen as a welcome development because it gives us new opportunities to grow as a person. This is because when things change, people need to evolve according to the new conditions to adapt and adjust to those circumstances. If they have a positive mindset towards change, they can enjoy their journey of self-growth instead of feeling gloomy, as change is inevitable. For instance, moving to a different city or changing jobs can expose people to new cultures and challenges, which can broaden their perspectives and help to enhance their skills. Since change can be a breath of fresh air, I believe having a positive attitude towards it is more beneficial, even if it can sometimes be daunting.
In conclusion, even though some prefer to keep on doing the same things because they feel comfortable doing so, I believe change should be welcomed with open arms because it can give people new, richer experiences.
